Tensions rise as rockets hit Israel from South Lebanon
At least three rockets were fired from southern Lebanon into Israel on Thursday, prompting the Israeli military to respond with an artillery attack near the village of Tair Harfa. During an emergency meeting Thursday night, the Lebanese Cabinet said it refuses to give Israel "pretexts" to launch a wide-ranging offensive on Lebanon. Full Story

Shatah revises growth projection for Lebanese economy down to 3 percent
Finance Minister Mohammed Shatah on Monday revised Lebanon's projected GDP growth for 2009 to 3 percent from 5 percent in light of the global financial crisis and the expected economic slowdown in the oil-rich Gulf Arab states. The minister, who was speaking at a press conference to unveil the 2009 draft budget. Full Story

EU party to Israel's crimes against humanity - NGOs
A coalition of Lebanese and Palestinian NGOs have accused the European Union of being party to crimes against humanity by supporting Israel's military offensive in the Gaza Strip. Tiptoeing around death in South Lebanon

The rocket attacks yesterday across Lebanon's southern border with Israel were a worrying sign that the conflict in Gaza may escalate into a wider conflagration.
